Turn relationships into meals for your neighbors.
If you enjoy connecting with people, solving practical problems, and seeing the purpose behind your work, bring those strengths to the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. As our Retail Donations Coordinator, you’ll help retail stores turn food donations into support for neighbors facing hunger. You’ll manage an assigned portfolio of donor stores, become their go-to contact, and help make safe, reliable food recovery part of their everyday operations.

Why this work matters
At the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, relationships help connect food with the people who need it. Our work serves communities across 24 counties in eastern Oklahoma. In this role, you’ll put that purpose into practice through donor visits, clear guidance, thoughtful follow-up, and recognition of each store’s contribution. It’s an opportunity to combine relationship-building, independent fieldwork, and attention to detail in work that helps feed your neighbors.

What you’ll do
  • Be a trusted partner. Build and maintain relationships with your assigned retail donor stores, serving as their primary contact for the Retail Recovery Program.
  • Make expectations clear. Understand retail store donation guidelines and help stores comply with the requirements of their donation programs.
  • Help store teams participate confidently. Explain Retail Recovery procedures and protocols so staff understand how to support food donation efforts.
  • Keep food safety central. Ensure retail food donations meet food safety standards.
  • Show up where partnerships happen. Coordinate and conduct donor visits throughout our 24-county service area.
  • Follow through. Record donor conversations and visits in the customer relationship management (CRM) system and provide timely follow-up.
  • Use information to guide your work. Monitor donor activity using reporting tools and meal-tracking software.
  • Help donors see their impact. Recognize stores’ contributions and use donor stewardship best practices to strengthen ongoing participation.
  • Stay connected. Maintain communication with food industry liaisons to support strong retail donor relationships.
  • Spot opportunities. Keep up with retail industry developments to identify opportunities for food donation recovery.
  • Work through challenges. Help donors and partner agencies resolve issues so their partnerships can work effectively.
  • Plan for regular travel. Be available to travel at least 2–3 days each week to visit retail donors.
  • Contribute to the team. Perform other duties as assigned.
Picture yourself in the role
Your week will combine time visiting stores with time documenting conversations, reviewing donor activity, and following up on questions. On a store visit, you might walk staff through donation procedures, listen to a challenge, or recognize the team’s contribution. Between visits, you’ll keep records current and coordinate next steps with donors, industry contacts, and internal teams.
Success means donors know whom to call, stores understand program and food safety expectations, and commitments receive timely follow-through.

What you’ll bring
  • A commitment to the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma’s mission and core values, and a desire to connect your everyday work with helping neighbors facing hunger.
  • Integrity in your decisions, enthusiasm for the work, perspective when challenges arise, and the flexibility and work ethic to respond constructively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: you listen, communicate clearly, and build trust with people from a variety of cultural, economic, and social backgrounds.
  • Self-direction and organization: you prioritize, respond promptly, adapt as needs change, and follow through on commitments in a dynamic environment.
  • The ability to work independently while staying connected to colleagues and contributing as a team member.
Qualifications and work requirements
  • Education or equivalent experience: A bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Preferred, not required: Two to five years of experience in grocery-store settings.
  • Travel readiness: A valid Oklahoma driver's license, proof of insurance, and the ability to travel throughout the 24-county service area for donor visits. This role requires travel at least 2–3 days weekly.
  • Work activities: Ability to sit, stand, or drive for extended periods.
  • Must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.
Bring your relationship skills to work that matters.
If you see yourself building trusted partnerships, helping store teams succeed, and keeping the details moving, we encourage you to apply. Show us how your education or equivalent work experience has prepared you to contribute. Grocery-store experience is preferred—not a requirement to apply.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
